Ahong Communication, a subsidiary of Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Changhong (600839.SH), yesterday launched a smartphone "equipped with an 800 MHz processor worth USD 100." The phone is priced at RMB 698 and will be sold on Beijing-based B2C e-commerce site 360Buy.com. Ahong has cooperated with Chinese Internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) to build a "cloud security" system for the phone, and with software company Anhui USTC iFlytek (002230.SZ) in building its "cloud voice" function.
At present, Ahong's two mobile phone manufacturing bases are located in Kaihong, Shenzhen and in Chongqing.
