An industry source revealed today that Chu Dachen, GM of Chinese internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) Baidu Union content network, has left Baidu and will join internet company Sina's (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging product team in May. Chu may be responsible for overseeing Weibo platform operations as part of a possible Baidu Union-like keyword advertising platform for the service.
Chu formerly served as general manager of Baidu's business analytics department, later replacing Cai Hu as GM of Baidu Union after Cai transferred to serve as GM of Baidu's e-commerce division.
When contacted by phone, Chu said that he was "resting" and declined to discuss the matter. Baidu offered no comment.
