Chinese internet infrastructure provider HiChina, a subsidiary of B2B e-commerce company Alibaba.com (1688.HK), announced on June 12 that it had formed a strategic partnership with Chinese internet company Sina's (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging platform and the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) to launch a new line of SME-oriented products including "HiChina Micro-Sites."
Offered in partnership with Sina Weibo, HiChina Micro-Sites allows users to automatically produce websites based on text and image content from their microblogs. Micro-site content will be automatically synchronized from Sina Weibo accounts, and will support viewing on a variety of devices.
HiChina is also introducing the RMB 88/year "Micro-Site Domains." After the five-second micro-site setup process, users will be able to purchase a .cn or .中国 domain name pointing to the micro-site. HiChina will offer real-name registration for the domain name in as little as a week.
Sina Weibo will partner with HiChina on "Qiye Weibo Zhitongche" ("Enterprise Microblog Express"), allowing SMEs to submit their real-name registration data to Sina's enterprise microblogging system for verification to set up an enterprise microblog account on the platform.
HiChina VP Zhang Benwei said that the three products announced would only the beginning of further enterprise-level applications and services from HiChina in partnership with Sina Weibo.
