EASTERN Communications Co, the Chinese mobile-phone maker that produces handsets with Motorola Inc, said 2007 profit more than quadrupled after a record number of consumers signed up for wireless services.
Net income rose to 173 million yuan (US$24.7 million), or 0.138 yuan a share, from a restated 37.2 million yuan, or 0.03 yuan, a year earlier, the Hangzhou-based company said yesterday.
