Connector specialist Foxlink (Cheng Uei Precision Industry) on September 11 denied a local media report that the company is in talks with China-based handset-design company TechFaith Wireless for the establishment of a handset-manufacturing joint venture.

A joint venture between Foxlink and TechFaith is expected to be set up by the end of this year, using Foxlink's handset-manufacturing plant in Kunshan, China as its production base. In this way, Foxlink is likely to secure OEM, or even ODM, handset orders from TechFaith's current clients such as Nokia and Motorola and other telecom services companies.

Foxlink stated that it currently has only normal business relations with TechFaith and has never engaged in talks with the handset-design company to set up a joint venture, the company said in its filing.
