   Date:2011/08/29

The value of two-way trade for ICT products between Taiwan and China is expected to top US$5 billion in 2011, growing from the US$3 billion recorded in 2009 and US$4.48 billion in 2010, according to an estimate by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

Taiwan's vice economic minister Huang Jung-chiou made the prediction at a meeting held in Ilan, eastern Taiwan recently, aiming to strengthen ties and cooperation between ICT makers in Taiwan and China.

Given ICT trade between Taiwan and China has already reached US$2.97 billion in the first half of 2011, the total trade value of ICT products between the two sides should be able reach at least US$5 billion, Huang said.

Huang also suggested ICT makers in Taiwan and China strengthen cooperation in the formation of 4G standards and Internet of Things applications.
