September 6 -- Data from the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s (CATCM) website showed that herb prices continued their fall last month, reports Shanghai Securities News.
Of the 537 herbs monitored, 75 recorded a price rise while 161 recorded drops. Prices of more than half of the total remained unchanged from July. According to CATCM, prices of many herbs dropped while inventory keepers reduced their supplies. In addition, buyers’ attitude of wait-and-see resulted in fewer transactions.
Prices of honeysuckle dropped significantly following news reports of adulteration among honeysuckle producers.
A medicine sector analyst said prices of some commonly used herbs tumbled on strict regulations of the National Development and Reform Commission after surging earlier. But he estimates traditional medicine herbs prices will bounce back in the future.
Share of Wai Yuen Tong Medicine Holdings (0897.HK) tumbled 3.17 percent to trade at HK$0.122 at 14:11 today.
