   Date:2011/11/11

HTC is expected to sell two million smartphones in the Taiwan market in 2011, compared to 800,000-900,000 units sold in 2010, the Chinese-language Commercial Times quoted industry sources as saying.

HTC launched on November 10 a new member of its Sensation lineup, the HTC Sensation XL, in the local market. The company expects the 4.7-inch Sensation XL, together with its recently released HTC Rhyme and HTC Explorer, will further boost its share in the local smartphone sector, the paper quoted company's president of North Asia, Jack Tong, as saying.

HTC took a 40% share in the local smartphone segment in the third quarter of 2011, the paper revealed.

In other news, HTC has recently unveiled a total of five new models in China – the HTC EVO 3D, HTC Sensation XE, HTC Rhyme, HTC Explorer as well as a dual-SIM model supporting CDMA 2000 and GSM. All new models will be available in China starting November.

HTC expects China sales to reach over 10% of its total revenues in 2011 compared to single digits a year earlier, according to company CEO Peter Chou.
