Jonney Shih, chairman of Asustek Computer, on February 27 debuted PadFone, a smartphone fitted in a tablet PC chassis, at the 2012 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, with its launch scheduled for April 2012.
The smartphone is equipped with Qualcomm-developed dual-core processor Snapdragon S4 MSM8960, a 4.3-inch AMOLED+qHD screen, an 8-megapixel rear camera and Android 4.0 operating system. PadFone is a three-in-one device: the smartphone can become a 10.1-inch tablet PC when placed into the tablet chassis or a notebook using a docking accessory, Shih said.
