ZTE Corporation and Etisalat Misr have reached an agreement to expand the Egyptian operator’s network as part of 2012 expansion plans to meet forecast capacity requirements.

This contract is the second phase of the Etisalat Misr wireless network expansion plan agreed by both corporations covering the supply, installation and implementation of SDR UMTS equipment and BSS solutions on a turnkey basis. The plan is expected to expand to cover further infrastructure development, which is a major focus area for both corporations in 2012.
The two corporations have also agreed to extend the mutual strategic cooperation in other technology areas including microwave transmission, core networks, power solutions and value added services.

Etisalat Misr has been leading the broadband market in Egypt since 2007 and was the first company in Africa to introduce HSPA + technology in the summer of 2009, providing Egyptian customers with internet speeds up to 42 Mbps, and will continue its technological evolution to maintain its broadband leadership in the Egyptian market.
