There were 2.15 million handsets shipped in the Taiwan market in the fourth quarter of 2011, increasing 12.1% sequentially but decreasing 7.5% on year, according to International Data Corporation (IDC) Taiwan.
The shipments consisted of 1.33 million smartphones which rose 18.2% on quarter and 66.4% on year as well as 820,000 feature phones which grew 3.4% on quarter but slipped 46.2% on year.
Of the smartphones shipped in the fourth quarter, 75.5% were based on Android.
