China's Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, a provider of next generation telecommunications network solutions, said in a statement that Saudi Telecom has chosen it to deploy a WiMAX 802.16e-based network.

Under the agreement, Huawei will design and deploy the network as well as an authorization, authentication and accounting system for Saudi Telecom, the largest service provider in Saudi Arabia .

The network will cover major cities including Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

Financial details of the contract were not provided.
