CHINA Eastern Airlines yesterday started direct flights between Shanghai and Hamburg that could double the number of Chinese tourists to the German city.

Chinese tourists' hotel room nights in Hamburg are expected to double to 100,000 by 2015 with the opening of the flight, said Dietrich von Albedyll, chief executive of Hamburg Tourismus.

More than 400 companies in Hamburg currently do business with Chinese firms, the authority said.
