Advantech, Taiwan's largest industrial PC maker, saw its revenues of NT$1.472 billion (US$50.8 million) for August decrease 8.52% on month and 4.83% on year. January-August consolidated revenues were NT$12.579 billion, up 21.08% on year, according to the company.
Embedded computing and applied computing products were the main sources of August revenues, the company indicated. In particular, August revenues in Europe increased 42% from August 2010. Third-quarter revenues are expected to remain unchanged or drop slightly sequentially, Advantech said.
In response to questions about consumer electronics makers stepping into the more profitable industrial PC sector, Advantech chairman KC Liu commented that the differences between IPCs and consumer electronics are increasing.
