IC design house MediaTek has reported NT$8.31 billion (US$285 million) in consolidated revenues for August 2011, up 16.3% sequentially. The figure also represented the highest monthly level since September 2010.
MediaTek's revenues for the first eight months of 2011 totaled NT$56.27 billion, decreasing 30.5% from a year earlier.
Market watchers expect MediaTek to post another sequential growth in September sales, thanks to a continued pick-up in orders for white-box handsets in China. The company's consolidated sales for the third quarter should be able to meet its NT$22-23 billion guidance range, said the watchers.
Fellow IC design house Egalax_empia Technology (EETI) also turned in strong gains in the period buoyed by strong demand for its touch controller solutions from China's white-box handset and tablet sectors. The company registered NT$128 million in August revenues, up 33.9% on month.
