Chinese telecom operator China Unicom has published its user statistics for September 2011, stating that the number of its 2G mobile users increased by 81.59% compared with the previous month and its 3G users increased by 15.28%.
The company said that during the reporting period, its 2G users saw a net increase of 572,000, which was a month-over-month increase of 81.59%. The number was 315,000 in August 2011. At the same time, its 3G users achieved a net increase of 2.362 million, a month-over-month increase of 15.28%. The number in the previous month was 2.049 million.
By the end of September 2011, the total number of China Unicom's 2G users had reached 158.804 million, and the number of its 3G users had reached 30.23 million.
In addition, China Unicom's broadband user group continued to expand. With a net increase of 779,000 users, the total number of the operator's broadband users increased to 54.537 million by the end of September 2011.
For the fixed-line sector, China Unicom lost 124,000 users in September and the total user number was 94.575 million by the end of the reporting period.
