Chinese stocks fall over 2% Thursday

BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks fell for a sixth consecutive trading day on Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropping by 2.14 percent, or 47.63 points, to close at 2,180.9.

The Shenzhen Component Index slid 2.44 percent, or 221.94 points to finish at 8,871.09.

BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks continued to fall for the fifth consecutive trading days on Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closing down 0.89 percent, or 20.07 points, to 2,228.53.

China to maintain prudent monetary policy next year: central economic work conference

BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- China will maintain its prudent monetary policy and proactive fiscal policy in 2012, according to the annual central economic work conference that closed on Wednesday.

The main theme of next year's economic and social development will be "making progress while maintaining stability," according to a statement issued after the conference.  Full story
