Passenger traffic at Beijing's international airport rose 7.2% in November from a year earlier, as demand for air travel continued to grow, according to data issued Monday by airport operator Beijing Capital International Airport Co. (00694.HK).
The airport handled 6.33 million passengers in November, while aircraft movements during the month rose 2.2% to 44,020, the company said in a statement. It didn't provide year-earlier figures for comparison.
In the January-November period, passenger traffic at the airport rose 6.7% from a year earlier to 72.53 million passengers and takeoffs and landings rose 3.2% to 489,500.
Beijing Capital is China's busiest airport in terms of passenger throughput. It overtook airports such as O'Hare in Chicago and London's Heathrow to become the world's second-busiest airport by passenger traffic after Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Ga., in 2010.
