The joint venture between Taiwan-based solar cell maker Motech, solar wafer maker Green Energy Technology (GET), and polysilicon supplier Taiwan Polysilicon Corporation has been put on hold due to low demand in the market. The three firms have been planning to form a solar wafer plant with GET owning 40%, while Motech and Taiwan Polysilicon each would own 30%. Low demand in the market has been causing tremendous pressure on solar firms, hence the three firms have been focusing on dealing with fluctuations in the market.

The joint venture between Sino-American Silicon (SAS) and Solartech have invested in solar cell maker Sunrise Global Solar Energy. SAS and Solartech each own a 45% stake while Cher Wang, HTC chairwoman, owns 10%.
