BEIJING (SANA): Pakistani Ambassador to China Masood Khan said that that the leadership of Pakistan and China has “decided to invest in youth,” as the younger generation of both the countries can play an important role in pushing forward our all-weather friendship to new heights.
He was addressing a 30-member delegation comprising the faculty members and students of two prestigious universities of China, here at the Pakistan Embassy on Friday. These included Tsinghua University and South West University of Political Science and Law. The delegation later left for Pakistan on a week-long study tour.
Ambassador Khan said that as you are going to Pakistan to meet your peers there, “you will find warmth for the people of China.”
The Ambassador highly appreciated the speeches made by two students and said these illustrated the true sentiments the people of two the countries have in their hearts for each other.
He said that you will visit three cities, but I assure you that the entire Pakistani nation is very hospitable towards the Chinese people adding “they are all embodied” with love for China.
Referring to the help Pakistan provided to the Sichuan earthquake affected people, as mentioned by one of the girl students in her speech, Ambassador said that people of Pakistan and China are like family members and share happy and sad moments with each other.
Ambassador Khan said that Pakistan is proud of “China’s unprecedented growth and wish for its further development.”
“We feel proud of being friends with such a great country,” and want to learn more about China’s experience to replicate the same sort of performance in Pakistan.
Our relations with China are all-dimensional and not confined to one area,” he noted.
He told the students that they will meet the leadership of Pakistan, in addition to visiting many prestigious higher learning institutions of the country including NUST, COMSATS, LUMS and Aitcheson College, where country’s best brains are being groomed over the last so many years.
He said the students of Tsinghua University have visited Pakistan in the past, but it is for the first time that the students of South West University of Political Science and Law are going to Pakistan.
Appreciating Prof. Li Xiguang, Director Pakistan Study Centre at Tsinghua University, for his contribution for deepening Pakistan-China friendship, he regarded Prof Li as the great friend and facilitator of Pakistan.
Earlier Zhang Guo Lin, Chancellor, South West University of Political Science and Law said that China borders 20 countries, among these, Pakistan is the only good brother to China adding that “Pakistan means much more to China today than in the Cold war.”
He said being one of the most important Islamic countries in the world, Pakistan is the main channel for China to build strategic relations with the Islamic world and an important partner to fight against terrorism.
He said China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation has extensive and solid foundation, and the bilateral cooperation has a broad prospect. With cooperation in energy and traffic as a bridge, China and Pakistan should further deepen cooperation in information industry, infrastructural construction and heavy industries, he added.
Prof Lin in his speech said that he is going to Pakistan for the first time.
He said it was his great desire to visit Taxila and the relics of Gandhara Civilization, to see for himself the historical places from where Chinese Buddha culture had originated.
The delegation was seen off at Beijing Capital Airport by senior diplomats of the Pakistan Embassy.
