Network equipment maker Gemtek Technology expects its shipments of LTE devices to top over 300,000 units in 2012. The company will also begin volume shipments of set-top boxes (STBs) for smart TVs in the second quarter of the year, according to company managing director Kevin Yang.

Gemtek also landed orders for business-use network equipment from an international player recently, Yang revealed.

Gemtek's shipments of WiMAX devices reached 1.5 million units in 2011, higher than its projection of 1.2 million units, said Yang, adding that WiMAX shipments will continue to grow in 2012 although at a relatively small rate.

The company expects its revenues to decline on quarter slightly in the first quarter of 2012 due to seasonality but looks to see its gross margin rebound to over 10% during the quarter.
