China Passenger Car Sales in 2011 Up by 3pct YoY

China Knowledge quoted according to statistics released by the National Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee that China sales of passenger cars including minibuses, amounted to 13.70 million units in 2011 up 2.8% from 13.32 million units in 2010.

In the month of December, China saw its passenger car sales total 1.42 million units reflecting an increase of 14.2%MoM but a decrease of 3.3%YoY.

Last year, the sales of SUVs experienced the highest growth of 21.2%, reaching 1.49 million units. The sales of MPVs grew 8.7%YoY to 504,710 units and the sales of sedans climbed 3.6%YoY to 9.57 million units in 2011.

The top four passenger car sellers in China last year were Shanghai General Motors Co Ltd, SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile, Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd and FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co, whose sales were 1.23 million units, 1.22 million units, 1.17 million units and 1.03 million units respectively.

The country passenger cars output for last year rose to 14.42 million units from 13.83 million units in 2010.
