Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 14) - Records from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine's show that over 1.8 million vehicles were recalled in 82 separate recalls last year, Moneyweek reported. Guangqi Honda led the list of companies with most vehicles recalled, followed by Shanghai GM, Changan Ford Mazda, Beijing Hyundai and Dongfeng PSA.
Guangqi Honda recalled 1.14 million units last year, with the joint venture ordering recalls totaling 156,302 Fit (pictured above) and City subcompacts in February alone. Guangqi Honda's largest recall, however, occurred in August, when over 750,000 Accords (pictured below), Odysseys and Spiriors were recalled because of a flaw in the drive train. The JV's vehicles accounted for 63.3 percent of all recalls in 2011.
Of the 82 recalls made, 44 were for imported models, while the remaining 38 were for domestically produced vehicles. The vast majority of the latter were for vehicles sold by joint ventures.
