Suning Appliance will focus on developing its e-commerce platform Suning Yigou this year and it aimed to become the retailer that combined features from both Wal-Mart and Amazon.com, said its president Zhang Jindong on March 4.
“Our focus this year is on Suning Yigou and we have put more than 20 executives at middle and senior levels to manage the online business, where there are five more procurement departments, such as general merchandize, books and daily essentials,” said Zhang Jindong.
Suning started its e-commerce platform Yigou in 2010 and its sales revenue reached 5.9 billion yuan in 2011, though far from its 8-billion target. However, Suning Yigou became one of the top three online retailers in Chinese market in 2011.
