Taiwan-based LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Lextar Electronics and LED chip packaging house Unity Opto Technology saw consolidated revenues for February rise on month by 14.37% and 19.07% respectively, according to the companies.

Lextar saw orders begin to increase in February and expects it the business for this industry to peak in the second to third quarter. Lextar's overall utilization of production capacity has risen to 60-70%, the company indicated.

As South Korea-based vendors plan to launch LCD TVs using direct-type LED backlights at the end of the first quarter of 2012, with Taiwan- and China-based vendors following suit in the second quarter, Unity expects a large increase in orders for LED bars used in direct-type LED backlight units (BLUs) in the second quarter of 2012, the company pointed out.

Taiwan-based LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Epileds Technologies and LED BLU maker Wellypower Optronics have also reported revenues for February.
