Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) is going to boost its production capacity in the world for mining machines such as hydraulic excavators and trucks.
It is investing €60m on expanding plants in Indonesia and Canada and €370m on building new facilities in Japan, in Hitachinaka City.
Sales of mining machinery are expected to continue to grow due to the substantial demand for resources around the world. As of 2013, HCM predicts annual production of 170 units of large hydraulic excavators up to 120t; 240 units of ultra-large hydraulic excavators between 190t and 800t; and 260 units of dump trucks with a loading capacity of 190t to 300t.
Work has already begun on extension work at two Japanese facilities and is due for completion by the end of 2012. The new plants will be fully operational by October 2013.
