   Date:2012-04-18

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 17) - The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced that Mercedes-Benz's Chinese sales division will be recalling a portion of imported A160 and B200 minivans next month, China Business News reported today. The recall, which will begin on May 8, will target vehicles manufactured between February and March of last year. A total of 291 vehicles in the mainland will be affected.

The vehicles in question are suspected to have a problem in where the internal drive belt of their CVT transmissions may break. If this occurs, the driver may hear an odd noise when operating the vehicle. At the same time, a warning alert will be lit on the dashboard. Mercedes-Benz's Chinese branch will conduct a through inspection of all affected vehicles. If a problem is found, they will replace the CVT transmission in order to ensure no future problems occur. Unsold vehicles in inventory will also be serviced before being sold.
