Former Beijing Benz Executive VP joins Volvo China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 16) - Former Beijing Benz Executive Vice President Fu Qiang has officially joined Volvo Cars as the first marketing director of its Chinese division, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today.

Mr. Fu (pictured) began his career in the automobile industry at the age of 23. In addition to his time at Beijing Benz, he has worked for Shanghai VW and FAW-VW, where he helped manage the Skoda and Audi brands, respectively.

Representatives from Volvo China said that they were confident that Mr. Fu's joining the company will help boost its management standards and market performance. "We welcome the addition of a figure with a highly regarded reputation like Fu Qiang's to Volvo Cars," Senior Vice President Shen Hui stated. "We believe that through his and [our] other colleagues' efforts, Volvo's sales performance, marketing management and brand [image] in China will [all] improve," he said. Mr. Shen also emphasized the importance of China to Volvo's global sales strategy, mentioning that the country is now the manufacturer's second largest market. He believes that the Nordic-style of luxury Volvo offers will gain widespread acceptance in China.
