Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Haier has officially selected Urumqi, Xinjiang province as the location for its high-tech industry park. The company will invest approximately RMB 300 mln in the first phase of the project, which is scheduled to commence in August of this year.
The project will include the construction of a dynamic informationalization platform, a logistics network for direct shipments to rural areas, a logistics platform for B2B and B2C, and a strategic material reserves center, all of which will contribute to an express order and delivery operations service.
The section completed in the first phase of construction is expected to commence operations on September 30, 2013, with projected annual sales revenue of approximately RMB 1.5 bln and approximately 800 employees. The second phase of construction will begin in September 2013 for a facility expected to commence operations in August 2015. Haier will invest RMB 1 bln in phase two, which will be devoted to the construction of high-tech production lines for household appliances. The second facility is projected to bring in additional annual revenue of RMB 2 bln.
