Xia Zubin, director of marketing for Chinese delivery and logistics company Shentong Express, revealed today that a Shentong-invested e-commerce platform, iBuyDay.com, along similar lines to B2C site Yihaodian.com, will launch in early July. The Hangzhou-based team behind the site already employs more than 100 people, Xia said, adding that Shentong is acting merely as an investor and will not participate in day-to-day operations or place its own staff on the team.
The first step for Shentong Express's e-commerce efforts will be the Zhejiang market, Xia said. The company will enter other provinces after establishing a solid base in Zhejiang.
While Shentong Express will not participate in hands-on operation of the site, it will offer fast, timely delivery services in support of the site. "Our e-commerce platform will offer general goods," Xia said. "If you place an order in the morning, it will be delivered in the afternoon. If you place an order in the afternoon, it will be delivered by 10 PM that night. In the future, our logistics services will work on an eight-hour system that will guarantee delivery within eight hours of ordering, regardless of when the order is placed, or at whatever time customers specify for delivery."
