China Merchants Bank Co. Ltd. (SHA:600036, HKG:3968) said Tuesday it has received approval from the China Banking Regulatory Commission and the People's Bank of China to issue of up to CNY20 billion (US$3.17 billion) worth of bonds in China.

Proceeds from the issue will be used to extend loans to small and micro enterprises, the lender said in the statement.
