CHINA Shipping Container Lines Co, the nation's second-biggest cargo-box carrier, posted a third-quarter loss as the credit crunch curbed demand for Chinese-made furniture, toys and other goods in the US and Europe.

The loss was 271.7 million yuan (US$39.7 million), or 0.023 yuan a share, the Shanghai-based shipping line said in a statement to the city's stock exchange yesterday.
