Aircraft engine maker Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies unit, said it has won orders worth 450 mln usd from China Southern Airlines. The deal covers Pratt & Whitney's share of an order for IAE V2500 engines, selected by the airline as the powerplant for 50 new Airbus A320 aircraft, the company said in a statement.
China Southern Airlines operates 74 V2500-powered aircraft including the Boeing MD90 and Airbus aircraft.
IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium consisting of Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, and MTU Aero Engines.
