Robust economy boosts logistics

   Date:2007/03/21

CHINA'S logistics market grew 14 percent to 3.84 trillion yuan (US$500 billion) last year, as the nation's fast-growing economy boosted demand.

Transport accounted for 55 percent, or 2.1 trillion yuan, of the overall market, while warehousing contributed about a third, the National Development and Reform Commission said.

Deutsche Post AG's DHL unit, TNT NV and other overseas logistics providers have opened facilities in China and bought local companies as economic growth spurs demand. China's economy grew 10.7 percent last year, the fastest pace in 11 years, led by manufacturing and exports.
