Freight companies partner on service to China

   Date:2007/03/29

Glen Burnie logistics and freight company John S. Connor Inc. has formed a new partnership that will allow service from Shanghai directly to the Port of Baltimore.

John S. Connor and Asian logistics company Orient Star Group will offer weekly service from Shanghai, a first for Baltimore's port.

The new service will give shippers the option of avoiding other more congested East Coast ports and will lower costs on inland deliveries and container freight station unloading charges, Richard Higgins, John S. Connor's director of sales and marketing, said in a release.

The company opened a Shanghai office in June to strengthen trade ties to China. "Our goal was to enhance the company's ability to service shipping customers in China with all logistics aspects, including operations, Internet tracking and tracing, and customs clearance," Connor President Lee Connor said.
