Hong Kong, 1 November 1, 2011) VODone Limited (“VODone” or the “Group”: Stock code: 0082), a leading new media company in the PRC, has announced that China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group (“CMGE”), one of its subsidiaries, established a strategic cooperation relationship with Taiwan MStar Semiconductor (“Mstar”), a world renowned chip supplier. The cooperation aims to integrate the marketing resources of the two companies to jointly promote the selected game products of CMGE, which will be developed on the MStar chip platform and cater to the feature-phone market. Meanwhile, MStar agreed to provide comprehensive and prompt supports in relation to the technological development based on its chip platform.
Through this strategic cooperation between CMGE and MStar, MStar agreed to promote the selected game products of CMGE to handset design houses and mobile phone manufacturers whilst distributing its chips to such companies. In addition, MStar would reinforce the cooperation relationship by further promoting such game products through its own established distribution channels. For the new chip platform of MStar, CMGE would also obtain full supports in terms of technology adaptation and other technological services.
MStar showed a strong growth momentum in the field of mobile-phone chip design. Its self-designed “domestically-made smartphone” chips are widely welcomed by numerous domestic handset design houses and manufacturers, as evidenced by the rapid growth in its chip sales and market share. This cooperation would help CMGE to further tap into the feature-phone and the “domestically-made smartphone” game markets.
CMGE is a professional mobile game developer and operator, mainly engaged in the development and operation of mobile games for smart phones and feature phones in China. It also owns a specialized handset design company which allows CMGE to have a complete mobile game industrial chain. According to the report of Analysys International, CMGE accounted for the largest market share of 18.3% in the China’s mobile game revenue in 2010. The Group has over 27 million paying users per year for mobile games.
