China Southern Airlines launched (02-Nov-2011) its 2011/12 winter schedule on 30-Oct-2011 with over 500 scheduled routes, including over 380 domestic, over 95 international and over 20 regional routes. Compared to the last season, 34 new routes (26 domestic routes and eight international/regional routes) are being launched. The carrier stated its new schedule will "make full use of its hubs and increase the proportion of international flights to promote the optimisation of the overall route network". The network also focuses on the improvement of the transit links between the international routes, along with the enhanced transit links between domestic routes and international routes.The carrier is accelerating its international development, with the proportion of international services to increase to 26.8% of capacity (ASKs). With frequencies to Australia increased to a maximum of 35 per week and New Zealand to 7 per week, the carrier will operate 42 weekly services to Oceania. The carrier is also adding capacity to Europe. The carrier has also increased cross-Strait services to 54 times weekly with 20 services to be added. The carrier will additionally open 20 new domestic routes and expand services to tourist destination cities such as Hainan to cities in East, Central and Southwest China.
