China has become the third-largest foreign investor in London after the United States and India, and more Chinese companies are expected to invest in the city, Deputy Mayor Richard Barnes said in Shanghai yesterday.
"London hopes to become the next stop for more Chinese investment because we are open, international and have a highly skilled workforce," Barnes said. "Moreover, London is going to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which offer a lot of opportunities for investors."
Jeff Cao, head of Asia-Pacific at London & Partners, said small and medium-sized enterprises in Shanghai can find a lot of opportunities in London with less than one year to go until the Games.
"The construction works have almost finished, and now we are seeking suppliers of sports goods and various services," Cao said. Detailed information can be found at www.competefor.com, which provides free services that help firms to compete for contract opportunities linked to the London 2012 Games.
