The city’s only Carrefour store left this January but METRO is slated to start a location in Foshan, Guangdong Province in the middle of next month with an area of over 8,000 square meters.

Representative from the retailer said that the Foshan branch will be a membership store with more than 14,000 kinds of food and non-food choices, which will not be provided to individual shoppers but only to businesses and institutions, such as hotel, restaurant, medium- and small-sized retailers and government affiliates.

Like other stores, METRO Foshan store will also adopt Star Farm tracking system, which will enable customers to follow food products from farm to fork. Besides, it will work according to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) standards and ensure food safety.
