Touch sensor maker Sintek Photronics has revealed that its 5.5G line located in Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP), a joint venture with Samsung Electronics, will begin volume production of 4- to 10-inch touch sensor devices at the end of March or in early April 2012.
The 5.5G line will have a production capacity of 50,000 substrates in 1,350 by 1,500mm size a month, the company said, adding that its touch sensor devices will target tablet PC, smartphone and ultrabook applications.
In other news, parent company HannStar Display has denied a market report stating that it has laid off about 100, or 5%, of employees at its 5.3G line in Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP). Instead, HannStar said the layoff ratio of the plant is below 1%.
