LED packaging company Ledtech Electronics expects its sales of LED lighting products to the Southeast Asia market to soar in 2012. For the first 11 months of 2011, Ledtech posted pre-tax profits of NT$60.98 million (US$2.02 million), which translated into an EPS of NT$0.48.
According to Ledtech, initial oders coming from the Southeast Asia market towards the end of the third quarter amounted to nearly NT$20 million and the contribution from the market is expected to grow in 2012.
Ledtech entered the LED market with low-temperature lighting products. The firm has been expanding steadily in North America. However, the orders in 2011 from the North America market have been less than expected due to the weak economic conditions.
Ledtech indicated that the price of LED lightings is relatively high, hence commercialization of the products in Southeast Asia markets has been facing challenges. However, as many manufacturing facilities owned by international corporations in Southeast Asia have long operating hours, to save energy, the plants are more likely to adopt LED lighting systems.
