BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks rallied after a week-long slide on Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index increasing 2.01 percent, or 43.95 points, to close at 2,224.84.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 2.38 percent, or 210.85 points to finish at 9,081.94.

China to maintain prudent monetary policy next year: central economic work conference
BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- China will maintain its prudent monetary policy and proactive fiscal policy in 2012, according to the annual central economic work conference that closed on Wednesday.
The main theme of next year's economic and social development will be "making progress while maintaining stability," according to a statement issued after the conference. Full story
