On March 20, the completion conference for the “Study on Building Macau into a World Tourism and Leisure Center” was held in Beijing. Shao Qiwei, Director of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), Gao Yan, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau S.A.R., Du Jiang, Deputy Director of CNTA attended the conference and delivered speeches.
In order to implement the planning of building Macau into a world tourism and leisure center on the basis of “one-country, two-systems” outlined in the national Twelfth Five-Year Plan in a better way, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau S.A.R. entrusted China Tourism Academy in June 2011 to conduct a theme research on the “Study on Building Macau into a World Tourism and Leisure Center”. The study team has visited Macau to carry out theme surveys and discussions, and developed systematic research reports.
Consensus was reached on the conference that the study analyzed the content, strategic significance, advantages and constraints for building Macau into a world tourism and leisure center, put forward the strategic objectives and policy proposals for building Macau into a world tourism and leisure center, and made better implementation of the Central Government’s spirit of supporting the development of Macau.
On the conference, confirmation was made on the work of the study team and the findings obtained on the study, also the working directions for further actively advancing the transfer of the findings, continuously deepening the research, and building Macau into a world tourism and leisure center though guiding and supporting policies were specified.
