According to figures recently released by China Ministry of Culture, China's networked gaming market (including online and mobile) grew 34.4% YoY to RMB 46.85 bln in 2011. The online game market rose 33% YoY to RMB 42.98 bln, while the mobile game market grew 51.2% YoY to RMB 3.87 bln.
The number of online gaming users rose 33% YoY to reach 160 mln, with browser game users up 24% to reach 145 mln. The MMO gaming market grew 27.4% YoY to RMB 38.1 bln, while the browser gaming market rose 102.1% YoY to RMB 4.93 bln.
The number of users of downloadable single-player mobile games grew 46% YoY to 51 mln, while the number of online mobile game users rose 352% YoY to 11.3 mln. The downloadable single-player mobile game market exceeded RMB 3 bln, while the online mobile game market reached RMB 790 mln.
Domestic revenue from self-developed online gaming products grew 37.3% YoY to RMB 25.42 bln. Exports of domestically-produced games rose 76% YoY to USD 403 mln.
China's networked gaming market (including online and mobile) is expected to exceed RMB 100 bln by 2015, with a compound annual growth rate of more than 20%.
