   Date:2016/03/21
FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between Chinese auto manufacturer First Auto Works (FAW) and German auto giant Volkswagen, announced the construction of an auto component park in Qingdao, Shandong province, on March 17.

The park, part of FAW-Volkswagen's East China production base project, has attracted 23 major auto part makers.

The East China project in Qingdao is the auto maker's fourth major production base in the country, following operations in southeast, southwest and southern China, according to Zhang Pijie, FAW-Volkswagen’s general manager.

At the launch ceremony, Zhang pledged to advance the Qingdao project construction and make it a world-class auto base contributing to the city's industrial and economic development.

Qingdao is considered a key auto city in the country, and has planned a string of bases for entire vehicle production, new energy and auto related industries, said Zhang Xinqi, mayor of Qingdao.

He also vowed to support FAW-Volkswagen's development in the city, hoping Qingdao can soon realize its auto dream through cooperation with the auto maker.
