September 1 -- China Unicom (600050,0762.HK) announced that it will cut international roaming fees in 30 countries by a maximum of 70 percent, reports 163.com, citing a company filing. This is the third time China Unicom cut international roaming fees this year.
Users calling from Canada to mainland China will be charged 7.86 yuan per minute instead of 11.86 yuan per minute; calls from Germany, Britain and Spain will be charged by 2.36 yuan per minute. Network roaming fees in Britain, Germany, France, Singapore, Korea and Denmark fell from 0.01 yuan/KB to 0.005 yuan/KB.
China Unicom is also cooperating with local telecom operators to launch preferential services in Britain, Germany, France, Australia and Spain.
China Unicom has opened GSM/WCDMA roaming services with 536 operators in 245 countries and regions and GPRS/WCDMA data roaming services with 383 operators in 170 countries.
