Air China Taps Civil Aviation Official Wang Changshun As President -Report

SHANGHAI -(Dow Jones)- Chinese flag carrier Air China Ltd. (00753.HK) has selected an official from China's civil aviation administration as its new president, Caixin media group reported Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Information about the appointment of Wang Changshun, deputy head of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China was released Tuesday to a limited number of people within Air China, Caixin cited the person as saying.

The person added Air China Chairman Kong Dong would retire from the company soon, without providing further details.

The report didn't make clear whether Wang would assume some or all of Kong's responsibilities at the Chinese flag carrier, or if he would instead replace Cai Jianjiang, Air China's current president. Kong is also general manager of China National Aviation Holding Co., Air China's unlisted parent.

According to Air China's 2010 annual report, the terms of both Cai and Kong end in October 2013.
