Touch panel maker Wintek has reported consolidated revenues of NT$5.64 billion (US$187.46 million) for October, down 23.3% sequentially and 31.6% on year. Combined revenues for the January-October period amounted to NT$73.38 billion, increasing 52.6% from a year earlier.
The sequential decline in shipments of medium-size touch panels for iPad 2 contributed to decreased revenues for October, according to industry sources. Moreover, Apple took delivery of 15-16 million units of iPad 2 in the third quarter but total sales in channels reached only 11.12 million units during the period, leaving a build-up of over three million units.
Wintek is expected to see its revenues rebound in December as it will begin to ship touch panels for next-generation iPads, estimated the sources
