AU Optronics (AUO) will start volume production of 27-inch OGS (one glass solution) touch panels soon, targeting the large-size touch panel solution market in the all-in-one (AIO) PC, telematics and electronic signage sectors, according to industry sources.

AUO's OGS touch panels solutions offer full HD, high-resolution images and support 10 touch points, the company said.

AUO will also begin the production of 10.1-inch AHVA (advanced hyper-viewing angle) OGS panels which offer WUXGA resolutions, while reducing 33% of the weight of touch panels as compared to non-OGS models, the company claimed.

The development of the OGS touch panels comes at a time when AUO's sales of large-size panels are expected to decline by NT$70 billion (US$2.33 billion) in 2011 and the ratio of TV panel revenues to its total revenues will drop to 43-44% from over 50% in 2010, indicated the sources.
