Touch sensor makers Cando and Sintek Photronics are expected to see their sensor shipments decline sequentially in the fourth quarter of 2011 due to seasonal effects. Additionally, Cando's integration with parent company TPK Holding will also reduce TPK's sensor orders to Sintek, according to industry sources.
Cando's 4.5G line is currently focusing on the production of medium-size touch sensors for iPads and another 3.5G line is concentrating on small- to medium-size models for clients other than Apple. But demand for medium-size sensors is expected to decline in the fourth quarter, the sources indicated.
Cando will also begin to roll out One Glass Solution (OGS) products for some clients in November-December period, and this will also affect revenue growth for the quarter, said the sources.
Although Sintek has landed touch sensor orders from Samsung Electronics and Asustek Computer, orders from the two vendors are insufficient enough to make up reduced orders from TPK, indicated the sources.
